statistics for the last available year cite
44,676
injuries to fingers, hands, and wrists of children under 14. It
is estimated that 15,000
amputations result from
door injuries each year. |

A closing door can exert up to
40 tons
per square inch of pressure between the hinges. Two recent
lawsuits for amputations of a finger resulted in settlements of
$725,000 and $600,000.
In neither of these instances was the finger lost...both were
successfully reattached. |

The Fingershield device (Front) prevents
finger-trapping accidents from occurring at the front of the
hinge-side of a door by totally covering the gap that is created
when it is in the open position.
When used in conjunction with the Fingershield
device (Rear) the risk of finger-trapping accidents occurring at
the hinge-side of a door is eliminated.
